US shoots down 86 Iranian drones and missiles
The US Central Command (Centcom) announced that over 80 drones and at least six ballistic missiles en route to Israel were shot down amidst Iranian attacks over the weekend. These actions were supported by the US European Command and carried out on Saturday and the following morning. The drones, referred to as ‘owa uav,’ were launched from Iran and Yemen aiming to hit Israel. Centcom also mentioned preemptive strikes destroying drones in Iran and a missile in Houthi-controlled Yemen. The Houthi movement is an ally of Iran, which condemned Iran’s ‘outrageous and reckless’ actions risking regional stability. Iran’s strikes were in response to an alleged Israeli attack on an Iranian consulate in Syria. With US, UK, France, and Jordan’s help, Israel’s military intercepted 99 percent of over 300 drones and missiles from Iran. Centcom reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard Israel and maintain regional security.
