Russian man charged with explosives to remain in jail
A 37-year-old Russian man charged with manufacturing and transporting explosives and detonators will remain in custody for an additional three weeks, prosecutor Bettina Wagner announced after a court hearing in Kolding. The man is accused of producing at least one kilo of explosives, including detonators submitted to the police station at Billund Airport on April 20, leading to the airport’s evacuation. He also allegedly made and transported at least two kilos of explosives to Åstvej in Billund, containing the unstable substance TATP, known as ‘Mother of Satan.’ The accused attempted to use these explosives to blow up an ATM on April 20 around 4:00 AM, but failed. Since his initial closed-door arraignment in April, he has remained in custody. Additionally, he faces charges for theft of a bicycle, possession of a gas spray, a flashlight with a stun gun, and committing a burglary.
