Mette F. advocates for Palestinian global voice

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen argued for the inclusion of Palestine in the UN to give Palestinians international representation. Speaking at a democracy conference, she stated Denmark’s recognition of Palestine as a state relies on a two-state solution, emphasizing both nations’ security and mutual recognition. She insisted on Israel’s acceptance of Palestine’s need for statehood and security. The remarks follow Denmark’s affirmative vote on a UN General Assembly resolution urging the UN Security Council to approve Palestine’s full membership. The resolution passed with 143 votes in favor, 9 against, and 25 abstentions. Frederiksen admits the prospects for a two-state solution are currently slim, citing Hamas’s non-recognition of Israel and the current Israeli government’s lack of interest in a two-state solution.
