Working pensioners in Denmark increase by 20%

In Denmark, the number of pensioners who are still working has surged by 20%, with 75,427 individuals drawing a salary alongside their state pension as of April, according to the Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment. Anne-Louise Lindkvist, customer advice manager at Sampension, attributes this rise to new legislation that eliminates the offsetting of personal work income against the state pension, generating potentially thousands of extra kroner per month. The current retirement age is 67, but employment among those aged 75 and above has more than doubled over a decade, reaching 19,204 in April. Danica Pension’s chief economist, Mads Moberg Reumert, notes the individual and macroeconomic benefits, including improved personal finances, access to experienced workforce, and additional tax revenues.
