Denmark to lead in AI for Public Sector

The Danish government launched a strategic initiative on Monday to bring artificial intelligence (AI) closer to citizens, aiming to make Denmark a world leader in AI within the public sector. Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen emphasized the immense potential of AI to transform ordinary lives immediately. The strategy includes a vision to free up workforce, reduce administration, and improve quality in the public sector. An official group will be established to set a target for the number of full-time equivalent positions that can be released by AI by 2030, aiming between 10,000 and 99,999. The plan also supports the development of tailored language models, which could underpin services like chatbots. The government has allocated over 100 million kroner to these initiatives through 2027.
