Deer park reopens after serious attack
Marselisborg Deer Park in Aarhus, Denmark, has reopened after being closed for nearly five months following a serious deer attack on an elderly woman last September, TV2 Østjylland reports. The attack resulted in severe injury to the woman and prompted the closure of the park. During the closure, the deer population was culled more than usual. Although the park was initially planned to reopen in December, further adjustments to the deer population delayed the reopening. The deer that attacked was seeking food from visitors, a practice that had led to aggressive behavior and a feeding ban since February the previous year, despite being allowed since the park’s opening in 1933. Areal manager Stefan Boldsen Hansen emphasized the importance of the feeding ban and warned that failure to comply might result in another closure. However, Hansen hopes the public has learned from past incidents to prevent future confrontations.
