Royal couple continues spring tradition at castle
King Frederik and Queen Mary will move to Fredensborg Castle on May 2nd, continuing the royal family’s tradition of residing there during the summer months, as affirmed by the palace in a press release. Queen Margrethe has already relocated there following Easter spent at Marselisborg Castle in Aarhus. The royal couple will be welcomed on arrival with flags and music by the local girl’s choir and brass ensemble. This welcome tradition, deeply rooted in Fredensborg since 1988, holds significant importance for the community. The Mayor of Fredensborg, Thomas Lykke Pedersen, expressed joy over maintaining this tradition and acknowledged its significance for residents. The royal couple will reside in the Chancellery House, their primary residence until 2010, and their ongoing choice during extended stays at Fredensborg. Before reaching the castle, they will embark on a voyage aboard the royal yacht ‘Dannebrog’, marking the start of their first sailing season as a royal pair.
