Man accepts verdict for 1990 murder

Henrik Krogh Rasmussen, 54, convicted of murdering Hanne With in 1990, will not appeal his 11.5-year sentence. His lawyer, Mette Grith Stage, stated that after deliberation with his family, Rasmussen has decided to accept the verdict to start serving his sentence and move on. The conviction rested on his DNA and footprints at the crime scene and his lack of a credible explanation. With was found stabbed and strangled on New Year’s night 1990. A breakthrough in the cold case came in 2023 using familial DNA search, leading to Rasmussen’s arrest after his son’s DNA was found in the system. Rasmussen, claiming memory loss due to intoxication, initially pleaded not guilty.
