Work inspection reports region after psychiatrist murder
Following the murder of a 66-year-old psychiatrist at work last summer, the Work Environment Authority in Denmark reported the Capital Region to the police. The police will investigate whether security was inadequate and if there was a breach in workplace safety laws. The 41-year-old perpetrator, who appeared with a knife at a psychiatric outpatient clinic in Brøndby, was committed by court order to a high-security facility in Slagelse. The murder occurred in a café, and two others were injured while intervening. The Regional Vice Director expressed relief that an external authority would review the incident, following initial criticism of the facility’s security measures. The assailant had expressed anger towards the psychiatrist responsible for his treatment. It was also revealed that the police had failed to apprehend the man beforehand despite warnings, leading to further investigations into potential legal accountability for the Capital Region.
