Qulleq party approved for Greenland march election
The Election Committee has approved Qulleq as an eligible party for the Greenlandic parliamentary election. Qulleq, a party advocating for immediate independence, was founded in 2023 by former members of Siumut and Naleraq, with Karl Ingemann from Maniitsoq as its chair. Ingemann emphasized Greenland’s wealth of resources, both living and non-living, which he believes are currently mismanaged. Qulleq joins five other parties for the upcoming March 11 election: Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA), Siumut, Naleraq, Democrats, and Atassut. Greenland’s government, headed by Múte B. Egede since April 21, has also addressed the recent ban on anonymous and foreign political donations following U.S. interest in Greenland, asserting that Greenland’s future is for its people to decide.
