Danish fans detained in Germany for fireworks use
Seven Danish football fans were detained by German police on Saturday evening for using pyrotechnics on a platform at Munich main station, reports Süddeutsche Zeitung. The men, aged between 32 and 39, had 43 pyrotechnic items confiscated, some of which had already been used. Additionally, a 35-year-old man possessed several small bags of cocaine. They were in Munich to watch Denmark’s national football team play a European Championship match against Serbia on Tuesday. The 35-year-old was ordered to pay a preliminary fine of 2,500 euros, about 18,000 Danish kroner. All the Danes have been released, with the drug possession case to be handled by Bavarian police. They received warnings regarding the fireworks, as carrying dangerous objects is illegal at the station during the event. Thousands of Danish fans have traveled to Germany for the tournament, with nearly 50,000 tickets sold for Denmark’s three matches.
