Denmark boosts defense by 40 billion DKK
The Danish government has announced plans to significantly strengthen national defense with an additional 40 billion DKK. According to Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, from next year Denmark will spend two percent of its GDP on defense. In 2023, spending was at 1.4 percent of its GDP for defense, with an additional 0.6 percent for support to Ukraine. Frederiksen emphasized at a press conference that the increase is not because Denmark wants war, but to prevent it, stating that Denmark should not rely on the protection of others.
