Zalando’s sports apparel sales surge

German trading platform Zalando reported an increase in sales, particularly in sportswear, during the second quarter of the year. Their total sales reached approximately 28 billion kroner (3.8 billion euros), a 2.8% increase from the same quarter in 2023. Citing their best june sports category sales, Zalando attributes this success partially to leveraging the sports summer by launching campaigns featuring sports stars like Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba. The number of active customers grew by 300,000 from the first to the second quarter, totaling 49.8 million. Operating in 25 markets, Zalando is steadfast in its annual forecast, anticipating a growth of up to 5% in 2024. Founded in 2008 in Berlin, it holds a leading position in European online retail and has been ranked as the most popular webshop among Danes.
