Man detained for murder of trans woman in Copenhagen
A 33-year-old man is under custody for the murder of a transgender woman at the Scandic Hotel in Sydhavnen, Copenhagen. He did not address the charges at the court hearing and is ordered to psychiatric care for 14 days. He is already under psychiatric treatment. The woman, 42, was stabbed in the throat and chest. The police initially misidentified the victim as a foreign man, but corrected the identification to a transgender woman in court documents. The accused had voluntarily approached police alongside relatives to confess the crime. The court has issued a ban on releasing the identities of both the accused and the victim. The murder happened between Monday night and early Tuesday. The court refused to impose a media reporting ban requested by the defense.
