Defence minister demands report on frigate issues

Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has called for an immediate report on the radar failure and defective ammunition of the frigate ‘Iver Huitfeldt’ during a drone attack in the Red Sea in March. Poulsen emphasized the seriousness of the situation and the importance of political officials being informed as the vessel experienced failures and defects. The ship faced issues due to a half-hour inability to fire its sole air defense missile, and technical problems placed soldiers at risk. Additionally, half of the fired shells detonated shortly after leaving the cannons without reaching the enemy. Poulsen, who learned about the failures on Monday, criticized the lack of communication and is awaiting further details on the incident’s extent. There was prior criticism of the weapon systems before deployment, and the frigate has since started its journey home.
