Renowned opera singer Tonny Landy passes away

Danish opera star and actor Tonny Landy has died at the age of 86 after an extended illness. His daughter Chaline Hyldgaard announced the news on Facebook and confirmed it with Ekstra Bladet, stating her father lived a long and extraordinary life. In 1966, the year he made his operatic debut at The Royal Theater as Alfredo Germont in ‘La Traviata,’ he also married singer Tove Hyldgård. Landy’s career included international performances, a 14-year tenure as the head of the Opera Academy, roles in movies and television, hosting a DR program, and authoring books. On his 85th birthday, he released a CD with 33 cherished songs. His wife Tove credits him as a tremendous inspiration for her own musical career. Landy is survived by his wife and two adult daughters.
