Cyclist Vingegaard suffers lung puncture

Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegaard has incurred a punctured lung according to his team, Visma, which reported he also has lung contusion. He is currently stable and remains in the hospital following his crash during a descent at the Tour of Basque Country. Vingegaard sustained a broken collarbone and several ribs. Doctor Thøger Persson Krogh from Team Denmark stated that lung injuries are expected after such rib fractures and that the broken bones would take time to heal, which might delay, but not significantly impact, his training recovery. His participation in the upcoming Tour de France remains uncertain, and while he can maintain his form on a stationary bike, returning to racing could take six to eight weeks. Rivals Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel were also involved in the crash, with Evenepoel suffering a broken collarbone and shoulder blade, while Roglic escaped without fractures.
