9th Grader Discovers Snake During Break
In an unusual twist to a school break at Tirsdalens School in Randers, a 9th-grade student found a chilled constrictor snake inside a plastic box near the school, reports TV2 Østjylland. The student immediately contacted the Animal Protection emergency center with help from a friend. The snake was in a critical state due to the cold and would likely have died if it had not been found, according to Mikkel Søndergaard, a zookeeper at the Animal Protection’s shelter in Tranbjerg. Søndergaard identified the incident as a case of ‘dumping,’ where the snake’s owner likely abandoned it. Special approval is required to own a constrictor snake because it is more aggressive than other species. It was later identified as a yellow anaconda, which can grow between 2 to 3.5 meters in length.
