Volunteers overwhelmed by digital demands, to get help.

A partnership has proposed 51 recommendations to reduce bureaucratic burdens on volunteers in Denmark, including the removal of MitID requirements for running associations. Culture Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt supports the implementation of these recommendations unless valid reasons are found otherwise. The government aims to present a proposal based on these recommendations after the summer. The partnership, established by the government in 2024, includes key organizations like DIF, DGI, and Ældreforeningen. It suggests simplifying processes such as annual charity event VAT exemptions and introducing recognition thresholds for volunteer contributions. A 2022 survey revealed that 48% of volunteers faced bureaucratic issues and 46% considered quitting due to administrative burdens. Organizing funds, grants, and venues is perceived as demanding and cumbersome.
