Ex-Intelligence chief sues over privacy breach
Lars Findsen, the former head of the Danish Defence Intelligence Service, is taking the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) and the Ministry of Justice to court, reports Politiken. He claims they illegally disclosed personal information about him to political leaders. The issue arises from briefings in February 2022 where the PET head told party leaders about Findsen’s sexual preferences following his arrest. Rigsadvokaten, the Director of Public Prosecutions, has declined compensation demands, leading Findsen to seek justice in city court. Defending attorney Lars Kjeldsen stated the goal is to shed light on these violations, emphasizing principles over financial compensation. Findsen has set the compensation claim for damages at 50,000 Danish kroner. Previously, Findsen received compensation for unjustified detention, amounting to nearly 200,000 kroner for 71 days of imprisonment and over a year of home wiretapping.
