Swedish Justice Minister visits Denmark
Sweden’s Justice Minister, Gunnar Strömmer, plans to visit his Danish counterpart, Peter Hummelgaard, next week amid a wave of gang-related violence and shootings involving Swedish citizens, reports TT. The visit aims to discuss enhanced collaboration against cross-border crime. Hummelgaard has criticized Sweden, demanding responsibility for its criminal environment after several Swedes were arrested in Denmark on suspicion of shootings and possession of explosives. Despite acknowledging good cooperation with Swedish authorities, Hummelgaard insists that the Nordic countries face repercussions from a Swedish pattern of crime that has gone awry. In response, Håkan Wall, of Sweden’s National Operations Department, contended that Sweden is not responsible for all crime in Denmark or Norway, but acknowledges the shared problem.
