Danish Industry halts support for Copenhagen Pride

Danish Industry (DI) ceases cooperation with Copenhagen Pride due to what it experiences as increased politicization, leading to a departure from the event’s original inclusivity. Advisory Director Kinga Szabo Christensen states that their formal support is retracted. A.P. Møller-Mærsk and Novo Nordisk have similarly ended their partnerships, citing a need for predictability and undisturbed focus on the core issue of the partnership. These decisions follow Copenhagen Pride’s proclamation of solidarity with the Palestinian people and subsequent apology for poor communication from its chairperson, Lars Henriksen, clarifying no demands were made for partners to adopt specific stances on the Israel-Gaza conflict. The exact financial impact on Copenhagen Pride is undisclosed. DI hopes to resume support if the organization can refocus on the rights and inclusion of sexual minorities in the future. TUI, the main sponsor in 2023, will also not sponsor this year due to budget reasons, unrelated to the controversy.
