Denmark and Germany to boost defense cooperation

Denmark and Germany have agreed to strengthen their defense cooperation, which includes support for Ukraine and countering potential threats in the Baltic Sea region. A memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Danish Defense Minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, and his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius. Poulsen highlighted the heightened security situation due to the war in Ukraine, threats to critical infrastructure, and the spread of misinformation, emphasizing the need for close collaboration with neighboring countries. This announcement follows a previous defense agreement between Denmark and Sweden last month, which also includes cooperation on the CV90 armored combat vehicles, a type used and produced by Sweden. Denmark intends to investigate how to collaborate on these vehicles for building a heavy brigade of 6000 soldiers, as recently agreed upon in the Danish defense accord. Details of the specific undertakings with Germany have not been disclosed.
