Netanyahu dissolves Israel’s war cabinet

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dissolved Israel’s war cabinet following Benny Gantz’s exit from the emergency government. The war cabinet, responsible for decisions about the Gaza war, included Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and observers like Gantz. Gantz’s departure cited the lack of a Gaza war plan. Netanyahu then faced demands from partners Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir to be included in the war cabinet, but he declined, wary of international relations impact. Future decisions will likely shift to the larger security cabinet, with Netanyahu still holding smaller talks on sensitive issues. The war cabinet had formed when Gantz entered the unity government post-Hamas’ attacks on Israel on October 7.
