Trump document case indefinitely delayed
The legal proceedings involving former President Donald Trump’s document case have been postponed indefinitely, according to the presiding judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by Trump in 2020. The trial was set to begin on May 20, but due to the number of motions filed, Judge Cannon announced that it couldn’t proceed as scheduled and did not set a new date. Trump is accused of retaining classified documents after his presidency at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, and additionally, of attempting to obstruct the subsequent administration from retrieving them. In 2022, FBI agents entered his Mar-a-Lago home, finding 13,000 documents in boxes, including classified papers with details on the U.S. nuclear program and national security vulnerabilities. Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
