Danish star architect to build UAE luxury homes
Bjarke Ingels is behind the design for 226 luxury apartments in the UAE, with a planned completion by 2028, reports Politiken. These apartments on Saadiyat Island will have views of a new national museum near Abu Dhabi. The UAE is criticized for human rights violations, a concern echoed for Ingels’ project in Saudi Arabia’s future city, Neom, where he is contributing to a port district design. Despite the criticism, Ingels highlights the role of such projects in positively developing the country. His firm BIG, established in 2006, now boasts over 700 employees and offices in seven cities. In 2023, BIG achieved a record turnover surpassing one billion Danish kroner.
