Martin Sheen calls on Denmark to free Paul Watson
American actor Martin Sheen appeals to the Danish government and Justice Minister, Peter Hummelgaard, to release environmental activist Paul Watson. Sheen conveys his message through a video posted on YouTube and TikTok, highlighting the importance of activists like Watson for our ailing planet. The video is shared by the Captain Paul Watson Foundation. Sheen’s support aligns with thousands of people demanding Watson’s release, endorsed by a petition that has reached 50,000 signatures. Watson has been detained since July, following a Japanese demand for his extradition related to a 2010 incident involving damage to a whaling ship and interference with whalers’ work. Denmark’s Ministry of Justice is expected to soon decide on the extradition request. Watson could appeal the decision to the courts if it is in favor of extradition, and currently, he is detained until December 18.
