Arla’s surge Secures 100bn Revenue

Despite a slight dip in turnover from €13.8 billion in the previous year to €13.7 billion in 2023, Arla experienced a strong recovery in the second half after a tough first half with high inflation. The company’s strategic brands, including Arla, Lurpak, and Starbucks, initially saw a 6% turnover drop, then a rebound with over 4% growth, excluding price inflation effects. Arla faced challenges with a 2.8% drop in product volumes, reaching pre-COVID levels, while Starbucks-branded coffee drinks and protein beverages achieved volume growths of 15.7% and 60.5% respectively. Not expecting price decreases this year, Arla’s CEO Peder Tuborgh noted that products are positioned better in the market due to wage increases. The cooperative plans to distribute over 2 billion kroner of its 2.8 billion kroner profit to its farmer owners.
