Ex-Carlsberg chief for russian unit fined

Former chief of Carlsberg’s Russian subsidiary, Baltika Breweries, Denis Sherstennikov, has been fined 5000 DKK and avoided further imprisonment, reports DR. The Russian state took over Baltika last summer, and Sherstennikov, along with former legal head Anton Rogachevsky, were accused of fraud. Carlsberg denied the accusations, calling them an attempt to justify the illegal takeover. Carlsberg, which owned Baltika since 2008 and sought to divest following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, was content with the verdict for Sherstennikov. The current status of the former legal chief is not reported. Carlsberg terminated all licensing agreements with Baltika after the Russian state displaced local management and seized the company, with Carlsberg’s CEO labeling the takeover as ‘theft’.
