Court denies ban on DR documentary

Copenhagen City Court has rejected entertainer Martin Brygmann’s request to ban a documentary by DR, as informed by the court to Ritzau. According to Brygmann’s lawyer, DR made ‘undocumented defamatory claims’ against him. DR’s editor-in-chief Thomas Falbe stated that the documentary, which addresses structural issues enabling sexism in the entertainment industry, follows good press practice, and all criticized parties are fully anonymized. The documentary is set to air on Monday. Brygmann and his lawyer have sought evidence from DR over the past seven months without success. A court can issue a temporary ban if someone’s rights are violated, but the details of the documentary in question have yet to be publicly disclosed. Brygmann, known for his work in acting, music, and satire since the early 1990s, his lawyer, DR’s general director, and Impact TV were all subpoenaed.
