Election Test Moved Over 100K Votes in 2022
In the 2022 Danish parliamentary election, around 110,000 voters changed their party preference due to an election test, suggests a study by Associate Professor Mathias Wessel Tromborg from Aarhus University, according to Jyllands-Posten. The study indicates that when recommended a different party, about 16 out of 100 voters switch their initial preference. The number of votes impacted, corresponding to around five parliamentary seats, underlines the significance of these tests. Danish media routinely offer such tests, aligning voters’ views with politicians’ stances. Kasper Møller Hansen, professor at Copenhagen University, reports that 62% of voters took an election test in 2022, with about 45% saying that they followed its recommendations. The tools have become a defining aspect of political navigation in Denmark. Overall, the study found that election tests influenced approximately 175,000 votes in 2022, also causing some voters to doubt their initial choice.
