Former ‘Vild med dans’ Judge Jens Werner passes away

Dancer and former judge of ‘Vild with dans’ Jens Werner has died at 59 after a long battle with cancer, his family informed via email. Werner, who judged the show for 20 seasons, passed away on July 9. He leaves behind his wife Anette and two children. Known as Denmark’s most victorious dancer, he achieved numerous championships and became the world champion in ballroom dancing in 1994. Despite his illness, Werner served as a guest judge in the show’s 2023 season, announcing it would be his last appearance. He expressed gratitude for the experiences and mentioned the show’s impact on his personal life. Werner, who also celebrated the 30th anniversary of his world championship victory on Instagram, owned a dance school with his wife, which will continue. Colleagues from ‘Vild med dans’ mourned his loss. Jens Werner’s funeral will be held on July 19 at St. Paul’s Church in Copenhagen.
