3F: Uber ineffective for remote mobility challenges

3F Transport Union Chairman Jan Villadsen argues that Uber can’t address the collective mobility challenges in Denmark’s outer regions, citing that Uber operates effectively only in densely populated areas. Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen has reconsidered discussing Uber’s return to Denmark after its operations were halted in 2017 due to a law making its business model illegal. Villadsen criticizes Uber’s past in Denmark, noting tax evasions among drivers. An expert committee has been established by the government to propose new collective transportation solutions by the end of 2024. Meanwhile, Liberal Alliance’s Transport spokesperson Jens Meilvang believes services like Uber could fill the taxi shortage in remote areas, suggesting a phased reintroduction starting with these regions.
