Agreement on driverless S-trains

When the next generation of S-trains hits the Danish railways, it will be without a driver. Driverless S-trains are expected to be put into service for the first time from 2029, and it is planned that this will initially take place on the train line between Ny Ellebjerg and Hellerup, DSB writes in a press release. On Thursday, the agreement group behind the “Infrastructure Plan 2035” approved that DSB can put the automatic S-trains of the future out to tender. The introduction of driverless trains is, among other things, to pre-empt forecasts of growing congestion in the metropolitan area. With the driverless trains, the aim is a metro-like operation where more trains will run per hour. /ritzau/
