Air Traffic Control deadlock continues
The air traffic control conflict between Naviair, which controls traffic in Danish airspace, and the air traffic controllers’ union, Datca, continues. On Sunday evening, Naviair confirmed to Ritzau that they had summoned Datca to a new negotiating meeting on Monday. Union spokesperson Esben Jean-Pierre Blum says that Datca will of course show up for the meeting, but does not expect anything real to come of it. “Of course, I hope to be surprised, but I don’t have great expectations. We go because we’re interested in solving this, so we’re taking part in almost anything,” he says.
Recently, Copenhagen Airport has been marked by massive delays due to a lack of air traffic controllers at Naviair. The lack of air traffic controllers has led to a conflict between Naviair and Datca. This is partly because Naviair wants air traffic controllers to take extra shifts. At the same time, air traffic controllers believe that extra shifts have become too regular. /ritzau/
