Former chief of staff advises Social Democrats
The Social Democrats have confirmed their collaboration with former Chief of Staff in the Danish Prime Minister’s office, Martin Engell-Rossen, as an external adviser, reports Ekstra Bladet. Engell-Rossen, who served as the closest political confidant to Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen until the summer of 2020, has been hired to assist with the development of their strategic board, which was used in their summer group meeting. He previously had a nine-year working relationship with Frederiksen, contributing to her chairmanship in the Social Democratic party in 2015. After leaving Danfoss in 2020, amidst criticisms of possible influence on behalf of Danfoss, he continued to frequent the Prime Minister’s office, but left a month early. Engell-Rossen played a vital role in key governing committees, traditionally only occupied by top ministers, his non-elected position thus escaping public scrutiny. In 2023, he started his consultancy under the name Engell-Rossen Strategy and changed his surname after marrying Julie Engell.
