PM Mette F. calls for clear boundaries in schools

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has addressed recent incidents of severe misconduct in schools, emphasizing the need for ‘clear boundaries and clear adults.’ She sympathizes with parents’ despair and highlighted the protection of the majority of children from destructive behavior, including substance abuse, harassment, and sexual offenses. While she suggests a need for action, the prime minister does not elaborate on specifics. Following media reports of threats and violence in schools, the government plans to revise the school disciplinary code. Minister of Children and Education Mattias Tesfaye is assessing the situation in schools and has stressed the importance of discipline, ruling out micro-management, but ensuring adequate responses to misconduct.
