Imam at Imam Ali Mosque resides in Iranian-owned house
Sayed Mohammed Mehdi Khademi, the chairman and imam at Imam Ali Mosque in Copenhagen, resides in a house owned by the Iranian embassy according to Berlingske. Khademi and the embassy have confirmed that he has been living in the property since July 2007. Previously, there were denials of any connections between the mosque and the Iranian regime. Rasmus Elling, an academic at the University of Copenhagen, tells Berlingske that the embassy’s ownership indicates a clear link to Iran, potentially signaling Iranian influence over the mosque. The embassy denies any special relationship with the religious center, although its staff might participate in the mosque’s activities due to it being the only Shia Muslim mosque in Copenhagen.
