Copenhagen’s Børsen building to reopen by 2029

The historic Børsen building in Copenhagen is set to be rebuilt by 2029, an ambitious goal stated by Lars Daugaard Jepsen of the Danish Chamber of Commerce. The construction is early in its stages, only in phase one out of 42. The Bourse suffered a devastating fire on April 16th of the previous year, which destroyed half the structure and led to the iconic dragon spire collapsing. Despite this, no injuries were reported, and almost all valuable artworks were saved. The 400-year-old building was under restoration when the fire occurred. Costs for rebuilding are not disclosed but are expected to be much higher than the initial 200 million kroner earmarked for restoration. The cause of the fire is still unknown after the police concluded the investigation without charging anyone.
