654 firms reported for COVID aid fraud

The Danish Business Authority has reported 654 companies for fraud related to COVID-19 aid, according to the authority’s information to Berlingske. During the pandemic, the Business Authority disbursed a total of 56 billion Danish kroner to aid approximately 370,000 employees and 105,000 businesses and independent operators. Approximately 95% of cases have been processed, prioritizing the most severe for reporting. Despite some businesses managing better than expected financially, with DR stating that around 60,000 companies received more aid than they were entitled to, the Authority is reclaiming 4.9 billion kroner. This includes companies like Copenhagen Airports A/S, which has been asked to return over 41 million kroner, and Tvilum A/S, which needs to repay more than 18 million kroner, even if they haven’t done anything illegal or been reported to the police.
