Cap on dispensing Ozempic set by drug authority
Denmark is putting an end to the collection of surplus amounts of the subsidized drug Ozempic at pharmacies. The Danish Medicines Agency has proposed a rule change, to be reviewed in a hearing, which prohibits pharmacies from dispensing more than a one-year supply of the diabetes medication Ozempic to an individual. This measure may extend to other subsidized medications as well. Pharmacies will also have the authority to refuse dispensing more than a year’s supply of any subsidized medication to a person. Health Minister Sophie Løhde explains that this change aims to prevent the accumulation and illegal resale of large quantities of prescription medications, which can be quite profitable.
