Climate Minister runs for parliament in Funen consituency

Lars Aagaard, the Climate, Energy, and Utilities Minister from the Moderates party, is set to run as a parliamentary candidate in the Funen Constituency. Though currently not a member of the Folketing, Aagaard has expressed his desire to run for office and now has a constituency to represent. The next general election in Denmark must be held by October 31, 2026. A native of Funen, the 57-year-old Aagaard was a former CEO of Dansk Energi before his ministerial role. His political involvement spans two years, with a focus on the reality of legislative impact on people’s lives. The Moderates, part of the SVM government, hold 3.6% in the latest polls, translating to an estimated six seats, a decrease from their previous 9.3% vote share.
