Foreign hotel stays in Copenhagen soar in 2023

Copenhagen’s hotels experienced a surge in foreign guest visits in 2023, with 5.7 million international hotel stays, a 17% increase from the previous year, according to Statistics Denmark. The total accommodation count for the Region Hovedstaden reached about 11.2 million, approximately 1 million more than in 2022. Across Denmark, hotel stays reached nearly 19.2 million, marking record highs since records began in 1992. Overall accommodation, including hotels, holiday centers, campsites, and marinas, amounted to 64.1 million overnight stays in 2023, consistent with the previous year. While hotel stays saw growth, campsites, and marinas experienced declines, with a 4% drop in campsite stays and a 5% decrease in marina stays nationwide. Most camping stays were west of the Great Belt. Overnight stays in Danish holiday homes also fell slightly by 1% in 2023, with German guests increasing by 1% but Danish stays declining by 7% from 2022.
