100 killed in Gaza school airstrike

An Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza City’s al-Daraj district killed 100 people, reports the Palestinian agency Wafa. The struck school was sheltering displaced Palestinians. The Gaza civil defense initially cited 40 casualties at al-Taba’een School. This number was later updated to between 90 and 100 deceased, with additional injuries. The Israeli military claimed the target was a Hamas command center. Earlier, airstrikes were said to have hit two schools in Gaza, resulting in over 18 deaths. Palestinian health authorities count over 39,000 Palestinian fatalities since October 7, without distinguishing between civilians and militants. Israeli estimates report over 14,000 militants dead or captured. On October 7, a Hamas assault on Israel led to 1,200 deaths and 250 hostages according to Israel.
