SAS strike averted: Agreement reached
The impending extensive strike that threatened to cripple SAS’s domestic traffic in Norway has been averted as the union Fellesforbundet reached a new collective bargaining agreement with SAS on Tuesday morning, securing improved wages and working conditions. The deal includes a significant wage increase, more weekends off, and adequate meal breaks on the ground. Employees negotiated for 24 weekends off per year, up from 12, with an added salary bonus of 30,000 Norwegian kroner and an annual flying allowance of around 18,000 kroner. Another union, Parat, also confirmed an agreement, and NHO Luftfart, the employers’ association, expressed satisfaction with the deal, noting a boost for the lowest-paid employees. Initial minor disruptions due to the strike beginning last Friday were limited, but a resolution was crucial before the weekend to prevent a complete walkout by approximately 800 employees.
