Media staff condemn greed after huge payouts

Employees at JP/Politikens Hus have criticized their board in a harsh letter, accusing them of greed, following the revelation of million-kroner payments to chairpersons. They describe the payments as embarrassing, provocative, and condescending, especially given the company’s history of cutbacks, layoffs, and budget constraints, which contradict the preached moderation to staff. JP/Politikens Hus, one of Denmark’s largest media companies, is owned by Jyllands-Postens Fond and Politiken-Fonden. The controversy arose after Jørgen Ejbøl, chairman of Jyllands-Postens Fond, received a 2.1 million kroner retirement bonus despite continuing as chairman post-payment, a sum he later returned.
