Danish press chief named EU communication director

Preben Aamann, a former EU President’s spokesperson, becomes the new EU Council’s Director-General for Communication. Starting February 1, Aamann succeeds Peter Javorcik in this position. His career includes over two decades of EU experience, starting as a Danish diplomat in 2001. Aamann served as a spokesperson during Denmark’s EU presidency in 2012 and later as Deputy Spokesperson for European Council President Herman Van Rompuy. He also worked as a spokesperson through pivotal events like Brexit. His new role involves managing information dissemination for both the European Council and the EU’s Council of Ministers, critical bodies in EU’s legislative process.
