Danish bishop: Pope ensured good Catholic cooperation
The security for the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican on Saturday will be extensive, attracting prominent guests from around the world to honor the late pope. Danish Bishop Henrik Stubkjær is attending due to his role as President of the Lutheran World Federation. Stubkjær highlights Pope Francis as a unifying figure who advocated for the vulnerable. The Danish bishop recalls discussions with the pope touching on world changes and finding hope in transformations. Even from different Christian traditions—protestant versus catholic—shared values, particularly on dignity for the poor and climate responsibility, have fostered strong ties. The funeral, set for April 26 at 10:00 AM, will take place in front of St. Peter’s Basilica. Pope Francis, the first South American pope and the 266th in line, passed away at 88.
