Denmark joins allies to donate Patriot missiles to Ukraine

Denmark has reached an agreement with Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway to send 100 Patriot missiles to Ukraine as confirmed by Norway’s Ministry of Defence. The Norwegian Defense Minister, Bjørn Arild Gram, expressed contentment in forming a coalition with allies to provide critical air defense. Norway is contributing approximately 932 million Danish kroner (125 million euros) to this effort. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj’s recent visit to Germany, which included a stop at a military area where Ukrainian forces are trained on the Patriot system, seems to have preceded news of the increased defense donation. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen had stated in May during Denmark’s 18th donation package announcement, that one billion kroner was allocated for purchasing the German Patriot air-defense system. The Danish government had previously communicated their willingness to financially support the sought-after air defense systems.
