Novo Holdings buys 25% of Sejet Plant Breeding

Novo Holdings has acquired a 25% stake in Sejet Planteforædling from DLG Group, aiming to boost sustainable agriculture and food production. Formerly a fully owned subsidiary of DLG, Sejet is recognized as one of Europe’s leading plant breeding companies, focused on barley, wheat, and triticale. The purchase aligns with Novo Holdings’ strategy to spread agricultural technologies for sustainable global nourishment, according to Planetary Health Investments partner Aleks Engel. The partnership intends to expand Sejet’s business and accelerate the development of new grain varieties, while also increasing its market share in Europe. Potential changes in EU legislation may soon favor the use of new genome editing techniques, presenting a unique opportunity to capitalize on Sejet’s expertise as an innovative platform. Founded in 1947, Sejet Planteforædling is located near the town of Sejet by Horsens Fjord.
